Akihabara, wrapped up with Korean appetite

Immediately after arriving at Akihabara station, I was already feeling goose bumps on my skin. This queer town did have something extraordinary.

For those who don't know, Akihabara is so-called "geek heaven"and it's a paradisiac place for everyone who loves electronics, computers and computer games of any kind. Thousands of electronic and manga-comic shops are occupying the whole neighbourhood.

We timidly hit some of the mini-figure stores.

I found Ultra Man mini figures:D. used to have them at home when I was little. They bring me back a childhood memory.

To be honest I was feeling somewhat restless in Akihabara ( probably because I was still a bit aware of the tragic incident in June?), but no matter what they are the place was definitely taking on some strong cultural power which continues to keep its presence as the world's otaku capital.


Great thanks to Chris's patience with my spoiled princessness, we decided not to have dinner in Akihabara but instead made a train trip back to Shinjuku and then Shin-Okubo, the largest Korean town in Tokyo. Thank you sweetie!

During our Tokyo adventure we'd been faithful customers of Starbucks; it was no doubt an oasis in the middle of aestival heat island but also one or two hours of cozy break between hectic city exploration was simply one of the highlight moments with my special.

Starbucks in Asakusa however became the most memorable and sweetest one despite my routine black iced coffee. Guess what played for milk and syrup...

It was a pre-booked ticket for Tokyo Disneyland for my early birthday present.

Of course, special escort was also reserved:) .

Usually I'm not a big fun of too touristy places in terms of travelling, but when it comes to Asakusa I firmly recommend you foreign readers to make a bit of trip to this old downtown Tokyo; oh yes, the place is super overflowed with foreigners but it's in a way a perfect place if you are looking for something very Japanese-ish which you often find in Lonely Planet guidebook as such. Also even for us Japanese the place offers an amusing experience to catch a glimpse of how foreigners perceive our culture.

Tried our fortunes with Omikuji; we both got Kichi=Blessing *relieved sigh*.

Only regret in Asakusa was that I didn't feel like trying real Ningyo-yaki ( famous Asakusa sweet cake with dolly figure) due to insane heat but still monaka-ice ream compensated for my sugary craving:P.

Omotesando is often renowned as one of the prestigious neighbourhoods in Tokyo; we see the stretches of designer label boutiques on the both sides of the road, and many chic cafes and restaurants are also found in the side streets. Apparently it was one of my fav places in Tokyo though it might still take some years to be able to crawl from shop to shop in the area with tons of brand-named shopping bags; yes, I'm after all a poor student yet;((((.

I've just found out later in Wikipedia that Omotesando is often designated as Tokyo's Champs-Élysées; wow, it perfectly makes sense that I had my best French moment at a lovely French crêperie in Omotesando with my French beloved(we had even been there twice in one week... now I'm a huge fun of galette:D).

Starbucks in Shibuya is privileged to command the view of entire scramble junction, which is definitely one of the breathtaking spectacles in Tokyo. Since it's such an iconic place, this Starbucks seemed to be one of the tourist attractions where tons of foreigners flock in.

...iced coffee for me, and mango frappuccino for him. We stuck to this basics during our Tokyo travelling:p.


Spied into Shibuya 109, the mecca for young Asian fashionistas. Unfortunately their barbie-ish style didn't impress me much any more but I would have gone nuts if I were still teenage for sure.

5am in the morning from my brother's apartment I saw the transient calmness before the city goes back to its tumult.

So, I'm back. My mind is still in transition from the world's most eccentric city to my peaceful bedroom in Kobe. Please give me some time so I'll soon be able to give you an overview of my Tokyo itinerary. More photos are soon to come.

So it seems our girl is turning into even more of woman with her vaso de tinto.

Natsuko just came back from her 2 months study program in LA so last night three of us ( Yukkin couldn't make it since she was away this weekend) flocked in Umeda for regular wine& dine session and most importantly it was her 23rd birthday. Gosh, years pass astonishingly fast; we're both 18 when we first met in uni. Things have completely changed now.

...And a secret of the night was revealed:). Happy Birthday my dear lady! You are forever a girl of Reppeto although Manolo Blahnik may dangle its voluptuous high-heels before you.

Virgo in August:"you've just climbed one heck of a mountain and now it's time for dawn."

Returning massive volumes of books to the university library, going to hairdresser, outlet store shopping and sleeping without alarm clock; yes, summer holiday is here! oh, I feel super.

Exams went decently good and fortunately I won't have to stay restless over the summer in terms of my results.

So, 3 more days till I leave for...guess where:). I'll give you some hints. 1) Beijing for 2008 Olympic Games. 2) Melbourne to visit my dearest peeps. 3) Tokyo. Well, I've been unemployed for so long so you know whether I could possibly cross the border with the current insane airfare price.

I'm going to Tokyo!

This is indeed my first time to properly visit there( so far my Tokyo experience only happened in Tokyo Disneyland, Yoyogi national stadium for cheerleading competitions and for job-interviews at one of the firms. What a shame;p) so I'm lusting to see real Tokyo this time. Plus the thing is that I'll be travelling with my favorite french guide. You'll find out what this means later*grin*.
